Dave Stewart has posted on Instagram about his upcoming project involving 24 songs and a film, debuting on September 10th. More details to follow, but here is what Dave said:
“Stood in front of the wall in the back lane of the house where I was born in Sunderland, N.E.England. I’m excited about something I’ve been working on for three years. It’s about a slice of my life back then, a journey through time. Understanding how music first discovered me when I was fifteen yrs. old and taught me the power of magic. It’s about falling in love for the first time, kissing in the freezing cold. The discovery of a parallel life an alternate reality, looking at freedom through a kaleidoscope and at the same time eating fish and chips or baked beans on toast every day. Watching Tommy Cooper on TV and crying laughing then listening to Sgt.Peppers in my bedroom and just crying. Learning guitar from Mr.Gibson next door and from blues artists Robert Johnson and Mississippi John Hurt albums. Talking to a statue of John Candlish at three a.m in Mowbray Park high on L.S.D. then trying to climb Wearmouth Bridge and staring at the dark River Wear moving slowly below. Sixty miles from source to mouth before you head down South to “The Smoke” (London) but that’s another story. Excited for people to hear and see these stories unfold through the songs being released (one song every 21 days for the next year, 24 songs) starting September 10th and then the movie also being shot in Sunderland the town where it all began.”
